The short version
- We never receive or store any personal information about your child.
- No accounts, no logins, no email addresses.
- A profile name or nickname your child enters stays on your device — it's never sent to us.
- All game progress is stored locally on your device only. We cannot see it.
- No behavioral tracking or profiling of children.
- Our web versions show contextual-only banner ads. Our iOS apps have no ads at all.
- We comply fully with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act).
Who we are
ChildSafe (childsafe.io) is an independent app studio that makes lightweight, educational games for children. We are committed to building apps that parents can trust.
What data we collect
Personal data: none reaches us. We never receive or store personally identifiable information about your child — no email addresses, phone numbers, ages, or locations.
Profile names stay on the device. When setting up a profile, your child can enter a name or nickname so the app can label their progress. This is saved only in your device's local storage — it is never transmitted to us or anyone else, and you can remove it at any time by clearing the app's data.
Device data: none. We do not collect device identifiers, IP addresses, or usage statistics.
Game progress (profiles, stars, level progress, pets collected) is stored using your device's local storage. This data never leaves your device and we cannot access it.
Advertising
Our web and Android versions display a small contextual banner ad to help keep the apps free.
- Contextual only — ads are based on the page content, never on user profiles or behavioral data.
- Child-directed — we configure our ad partners with child-directed content flags, which disables all personalized or interest-based advertising.
- Family-safe — ad categories are restricted to family-appropriate content. No violence, no adult content, no gambling.
- iOS apps: no ads. Our App Store versions contain no advertising of any kind.
We use Google AdSense/AdMob for advertising. Google's privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.
Cookies and local storage
Our apps use your browser's localStorage to save game progress on your device. This is not a tracking cookie — it is equivalent to a save file on a game console. No data is transmitted to our servers. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser data.
Our ad partner (Google) may set cookies for ad delivery. These are subject to Google's privacy policy and our child-directed configuration, which limits their use.
COPPA compliance
ChildSafe is designed to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Because we do not collect or receive any personal information from children under 13 — anything entered stays on the device — parental consent for data collection is not required. Our apps are designed to be safe for all ages without any data collection from children.
Third-party services
Other than Google AdSense/AdMob for contextual advertising on web and Android, we use no third-party services, analytics platforms, crash reporters, or SDKs in our apps.
Data retention and deletion
Since all game data is stored locally on your device and we hold none of it, there is nothing for us to delete. To remove all app data, simply clear your browser's site data (web) or uninstall the app (Android/iOS).
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. We will never introduce data collection practices that contradict the commitments made here without clear, prominent notice.
